Vocational Language Courses – Goal-Oriented We offer vocational language courses as part of the federal language support program under Section 45a of the Residence Act for people with a migration background. These courses build on general integration courses and aim to enhance your professional prospects in a targeted manner. We regularly offer basic courses at levels B2 and C1, and specialized courses at levels A2 and B1 at the SIT. These courses provide German skills across professions in a goal-oriented way and both the contents and the teaching methods are aligned with the BAMF course conceptions. You will learn about general communication with colleagues, customers and supervisors, but also how to write professional emails, understand instructions or prepare applications. Language skills in these courses are acquired in the context of general work-related topics. The vocational language courses conclude with the "German Test for the Workplace" (DTB) at the corresponding language level after either 400 or 500 teaching units. Participation Requirements You have a migration background and require further language qualification (migrants from non-EU countries, EU citizens). You have completed an integration course and/or possess the language level corresponding to the course, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). You are registered as a job seeker and/or receive benefits under SGB II (unemployment benefits II, "Hartz IV") or SGB III (unemployment benefits I). You are currently in training or are seeking an apprenticeship. You are undergoing the recognition process for your professional or training qualifications. You are employed but lack sufficient language skills. You can obtain an approval for participation from the Jobcenter or the Federal Employment Agency. Integration Courses (A1-B1) – Settling in If you now live in Germany and you truly want to settle in, then you should learn German! Learning German will be useful for meeting new people, filling out forms, supporting your children with schoolwork, finding a job and much more. You could also benefit from learning some key facts about Germany’s history, culture, and legal system. You will be able to achieve all of this in our integration courses, which we regularly offer on behalf of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). An integration course is a language course consisting of six modules (a total of 600 teaching units) and an orientation course (100 teaching units). Each teaching unit is 45 minutes. Through practical topics related to everyday life (work and career, housing, health, etc.), you will learn German and prepare for the German Test for Immigrants (DTZ). In the subsequent orientation course, you will also acquire important knowledge about Germany, which will be tested at the end of the course in the "Life in Germany" (“Leben in Deutschland”) exam. Once you pass both exams, you will be awarded the integration course certificate (Zertifikat Integrationskurs). Participation Requirements To participate in an integration course, you will need a qualification certificate (Berechtigungsschein), an approval for admission or an obligation to participate from the Jobcenter, the Immigration Authority (Ausländerbehörde) or the BAMF. Job-Specific Language Courses – Tailored for the workplace Our job-specific language courses (Job-BSK) are designed to help you or your employees develop language skills tailored to specific professions. These BAMF-funded courses are flexible and short-term (100–150 teaching units, each lasting 45 minutes). The courses focus on practical workplace communication and can be supplemented with individual language coaching to ensure sustainable employee integration into your company. Individual lessons – flexible and customized Individual lessons allow you to remain flexible and improve your language skills freely. Whether it’s general, professional or technical German, our experienced instructors will help you develop your skills at all levels from A1 to C2, in all language competencies. They can also help you prepare for an exam. The lessons are tailored to your specific needs and preferences: you decide on the scope, the schedule, and whether you would like to take lessons in person or online.
